ABOUT GRT SPECIAL SCHOOL
GRT Special School is a free training school for disabled, helpless, poor children.
Starting from humble beginnings in 2015, we now have almost thirty children and rely solely on donations and sponsorship to achieve our goal of enabling children to become independent and more able to express themselves, so enjoying a better quality of life.
There are many disabled children in our city whose parents do not have the finance or facilities to send their children to a paid special training school. The children we care for are amongst the most helpless, many suffering from more than one medical condition, typically Cerebral Palsy (CP), Down Syndrome (DNS), Mental Retardation (MR) and Autism and are not well enough to be accepted by fee-paying special schools. Most of these children live their short lives in pitiful conditions, often dying alone in locked rooms.
GRT Special School provides door-to-door transport for our children. A thorough medical assessment is carried out by Bangalore Baptist Hospital, our main benefactor. Based on their diagnosis, the school arranges treatment for these children.
School employees are well trained and supported by volunteers. There is a visiting physiotherapist and specialist child trainer to develop the children’s daily living activities and vocational training.
On a self-help basis, the children have started to make simple jewelry designs. These can be viewed in our shop.
Come and visit our school, where you will be greeted with the warmest of welcomes, and help us help the helpless.
